White rice VS brown rice

Switching from white rice to brown rice can prevent and even help control diabetes in rice-eating populations. A new study also shows that substituting brown rice for white rice in overweight/obese individuals significantly reduced glucose levels and lower serum insulin. This is, of course, in populations where polished white rice is a staple food and makes up over 50% of the calories consumed. Bottom line, you can cut fasting glucose by 20% and insulin by about 60% in just 5 days with brown rice. Well, polished white rice has the goodies removed, like folate and essential minerals where brown rice does not have it removed.
