To obese or not to obese

The PC Police are at it again and this time they are striking a blow against calling obese people – er, I mean weight challenged people – “obese”. Even though the word obese carries a very specific medical definition, it is now considered against the rules in some countries to call a portly person “obese” – That’s just in case they might be offended. And policy forbid that a physician blame the extra weight the super-sized patients are packing on the patient. Every patient definitely deserves to be treated kindly and with respect, but they also deserve to hear the truth about their health. I’m waiting now to hear: what are the politically correct words to call someone who is amply proportioned. Oh, and if you think for one moment that just “a little bit o-junk food won’t hurt you”, it will take more than PC-talk to save your festively plumpness from the word “obese”.

Actually, this may not be a joke any more...
