To drink or not to drink

Non-drinkers actually die at a higher rate than light drinkers. Of course, multiple studies have shown that people die at increased rates as alcohol consumption rises. But an analysis of those same studies show that mortality risk also increases when people choose not to drink at all. Some researchers conclude that light to average alcohol consumption can actually protect people from disease and reduce stress levels. Abstainers choose not to drink for a cluster of reasons including: religious or moral motivations, brought up not to drink, responsibilities to their family as well as not liking the taste.
