About those eyelash extensions: Eyelash extensions are made out of synthetic fibers that are glued to the natural eyelashes – often with formaldehyde-based adhesives. This procedure brings with it a huge risk for allergic reactions, infections and corneal scarring. This is one of the hottest new trends out there and Consumer Reports is warning women that longer lashes might not be worth it. The neurologist Dr. Orly Avitzur says: “The hidden dangers with eyelash extensions include infection, allergic reaction, irritation and loss of your natural lashes.” One of the problems is that as your natural eyelashes continue to grow they have to sometimes be completely removed when they become unsightly.
