Don’t argue around baby

Parents arguing effects the baby’s brain development and how they process emotional tone of voice – even in their sleep, according to a recent study coming out in Psychological Science. Babies’ brains develop in response to the environment and the encounters they experience. This leaves them vulnerable to stress and can have a significant, negative impact on child development. “Even during sleep, infants showed distinct patterns of brain activity depending on the emotional tone of voice we presented,” says one study leader. The researchers found that infants from high conflict homes had greater reactivity to a very angry tone of voice in brain areas linked to stress and emotion regulation.
