Childhood asthma that we caused!

Misguided trust caused this…

Did you know that over one in three American kids are given Tylenol (acetaminophen) at least once a month? How about this factoid: Researchers looking at 320,000 kids found that 11% of all kids had breathing problems. So, what do these two statistics have in common? Kids who were given acetaminophen just once a month had DOUBLE the risk of breathing problems. No wonder asthma in children is spiraling out of control. Oh, you were simply following the doctor’s orders and “doing the right thing” but ended up harming your child and gave them asthma… Let me clinch this with just one more factoid: The asthma epidemic of the new millennium actually took off back in the 1980s when doctors stopped giving aspirin to children with fevers, reaching instead for acetaminophen (at Big Pharma’s warm and fuzzy recommendation of course). The doctors only did this after it was finally admitted that aspirin was linked to Reye’s syndrome in children. Today, even though dozens of studies have supported this asthma/acetaminophen link, the doctor-recommended Tylenol still rules and asthma rates keep right on rising.
