Buying local food

One of the charms of buying local food is getting to know the farmers who sell directly to actual humans rather than some commercial institution. Grocery stores give very little information for where their food comes from or who grows it. Just the same, commercial farmers don’t often have a clue where their food ends up. There is a “local food movement” that is growing across America. Meet the person who grew the lettuce, visit the pasture where the milk goats graze, let your children hold a chicken that lays the eggs you eat. If you want to be a healthy human, you had best find and eat healthy food. The best way to do this is to shorten the distance between where your food is grown and where it gets eaten. Modern times have disassociated us from our foods. It is way past time we put the personal touch back into our diets.
