Real medical madness: Childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and tripled in adolescents in the last 3 decades. According to the CDC, by 2010, over a third of children and adolescents were overweight or obese. But now according to the American Heart Association, severe obesity rates in young people has swollen to a record 5%. Severe obesity is many times a more serious childhood disease than obesity bringing higher rates of type II diabetes, cardiovascular issues, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol and early signs of atherosclerosis at much younger ages.
