Another BPA warning!

Bisphenol A (BPA) is an industrial chemical found in food and drink packaging, food container liners, baby bottles thermal receipt paper, dental sealants and even in plastic plumbing pipes and parts. BPA is an endocrine disruptor that interferes with the body’s normal hormone signaling and can totally screw up reproductive function. So, what happens when you expose pregnant mice to BPA levels equivalent to “FDA acceptable” human levels? You get three generations of offsprings that have significant reproductive problems – including lack of fertility, declining pregnancy success and all kinds of sexual maturity problems. Doesn’t this sound like a current human problem too? The National Institutes of Health says the primary route of human exposure to BPA is through the diet and according to a report in Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology, scientists have recently found detectable levels of BPA in 93% of human urine samples. Want to hear the bad news in all this? The lower the dose of BPA given to the study mice, the more profound the negative fertility and reproductive effects were in the third generation. Don’t wait! It is time to go plastic-free until the mucky mucks sort this one out.

A problem that will last for generations!
